Project Goals
-
Findability and readability: Streamlining extensive legal resources for easy navigation under a simple and intuitive IA and website structure, catering to a customer-focused approach.
-
Align with future business goals: Reflecting changes in business structure, emphasising new offerings like webinars and training (including paid and free models) while maintaining a simple, navigable structure.
-
Update look and feel: Modernise the outdated website to align with the Justice Connect design system for a cohesive visual identity.
Design Process
Utilising a rigorous double-diamond process, we conducted in-depth discovery and iteration phases, closely collaborating with key stakeholders. Research methods included desktop research, heuristic and landscape reviews, card sorts, tree tests and top tasks, user testing, and stakeholder interviews. Synthesis and collaborative ideation informed wireframes and low-fi prototypes, followed-up by usability testing and iterative design improvements.
We also implemented an adapted agile approach to work very closely with the key stakeholders. This meant that we could ensure their needs were carefully considered at every point of the project and we could deliver a website design that made sense and aligned with their current and future vision.

Impact
We navigated numerous challenges, considering the substantial content volume, specialised subject matter, and future organisational goals inherent to the Not-for-Profit Law website.
The outcome is a user-friendly website featuring a streamlined and intuitive navigation system, robust search functionality, and diverse pathways for accessing resources that accommodate a spectrum of user mental models and digital literacy levels.
The design strikes a balance between being simple but modern, and maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance while incorporating the distinctive brand identity of Not-for-Profit Law.
